Serpentine In Mariposa County

Serpentine,
the State Rock of California can be found
in the Mother of Counties, Mariposa !
Find serpentine, and gold should be in the area.
Chromium gives the rock it's distinctive green color
just as it gives Mariposite it's shade of green.

Serpentine can be found up and down Highway 49 in the Gold Country of California.
In Mariposa County on the North side of the bridge at Bagby is a massive outcropping of Serpentine.


Here is a link to a manual that is still being revised, so if you find mistakes the authors would like to know about them. Also photos are welcome that could be useful to the book.
The book title is 'Roadside Geology and Mining History of the Mother Lode' by Gregg Wilkerson and David Lawler

The book is almost 7 MB in .pdf format !

Frapper has finally changed some things and now works the way I had hoped it would.

Frapper is located on the homepage under the photo of the day.

You now can move the location of a house or whatever item you are adding by just clicking and moving the cursor.

For example we added the visitors bureau by typing in Mariposa as the location then going into advanced and just clicking the cursor to where we felt was the appropriate location of the bureau was located.

Have a favorite restaurant ?
Add it to the Frapper map and post a comment on the place.

Watch as we add more and more locations to the map.
