Sweetwater Mine in Mariposa County

I do not know of another area in Mariposa County
where the wild sweet peas grow so vibrantly colorful
or so thickly and tall as out at Clyde Foster's
Sweetwater Mine !

After listening to Jack Wildt tell a few stories about Clyde Foster, a trip out to the Sweetwater Mine was in order. How I wish I could have sat on the porch with Clyde and listened to mining stories while sipping apple jack in the evening hours as the sun slipped away.
This is a very special place in Mariposa County, one that needs to be protected and preserved.

Here is a photo of Clyde that someone left as part of a memorial to him. Notice he has a tripod !
