The View From Sentinel Dome

From on top of Sentinel Dome and looking North East,
Mount Hoffman at over 10,500 feet of elevation can be seen!
Looking to the left of the decomposing granite rock in
the foreground, the rounded dome is North Dome.
Sentinel Dome at over 8,000 feet of elevation gives a
commanding 360 degree view of Yosemite National Park.

How long until a final solution is built for Highway 140 to bring back vehicles longer than 28 feet?

One Year?

Three Years?

If you picked nunber three you could be close !

Forrest Wass was over on the other side of Tioga Pass the other day and took this photo of Mono Lake.

Mono Lake

The Mono Lake area is a beautiful area to explore.

Mr. Wass also included this handy info he gathered from the museum in Lee Vining.

Most everyone knows that Clint Eastwood filmed "High Plains Drifter" on the lake shores. It seems that there was a 1953 movie "Fair Wind To Java" that was filmed ON Mono Lake! They rigged Negit Island to look like a volcano, complete with smoke. Not too much is known about the movie; they have been unable to locate a copy of it. Also learned that Lee Vining was in Mariposa for a while before moving to Bodie.

Thanks for sharing the info and the photo Forrest :-)
