North Peak In Yosemite National Park

Keith Sauer from North Fork took this photo of a sunrise
on North Peak (12,242 feet of elevation) at 6:30 AM,
just over a week ago.
North Peak is located in Yosemite National Park

Keith climbed this peak with a group of people from 9-70 in age. When they arrived at the summit the register for the youngest age ascent was 12 years old, so the 9 year old in Keith's group became the youngest to summit the peak and sign the register !!

A big tip of the hat to that young man for making that climb :-)

Keith Sauer has a mention in this article on the Sierra Art Trails that is coming up:

Make sure you put him on your list of artists to visit. He will be with Sheila Boyd a superb air brush painter.

As the low this morning is 48 degrees the above photo seems very appropriate. What a big change in weather. Yesterday was 10 degrees cooler than the day before. Today is going to be even cooler.
We are ready for it. With nine days of September in the 90's let us enjoy these next few days of cool weather.

Jim Allen, the Sheriff of Mariposa County, just sent an email about a comment I made in the sheriff report today about construction workers and how early they can start in the morning.

They can start at 6:00 AM he stated.

So if construction is going on near you, I suggest going to bed early, rise early and start your day !

I also made a comment on the fire dept. having the equipment to wear for a person who is at risk of getting lost.

Mr Allen replied, " On our links page http://www.mariposacounty.org/sheriff/Links.htm we provide the Project Lifesaver program in Mariposa County. SCOPE and Search and Rescue raised all the money to purchase the equipment and training."

Here is a link to Care Trak:

So a big tip of the hat from the Sierra Sun Times to Jim Allen for providing us the correct info and to the members of SCOPE and Search and Rescue for raising the money to purchase that important equipment.
