At Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys, California the largest
specimen of gold in the world is to be found.
Named "The Crown Jewel" it weighs in at 44 pounds.
This crystallized gold is the rarest form that gold can take
and was found in a 'Pocket' at a mine in Jamestown, California.

With award winning wines and live music during the summer months this vineyard is a destination.
Memorabilia from the gold rush days line the grounds and the shops.
With this gorgeous late October weather, take the camera and go for a ride to Murphys,California.

How big is the above piece?

A rough guesstimate would be 2.5 feet high and 2 feet wide !
Three inches or so thick in some places.
Just look at the gorgeous leaf gold that is mixed in with the crystallized gold.
