Covered Bridge In Wawona,Yosemite National Park

Galen Clark built the deck and truss section of the covered bridge
over the South Fork of the Merced River in Wawona around 1857.
Bridges were covered to protect the deck and truss sections
from rotting out from winter weather. It was cheaper to
reshingle a roof than replace structural wooden beams.
