Greenstone Rock In Mariposa County

At the tip top of Mount Bullion in Mariposa County
greenstone stands out here and there as the soil has
eroded over the years leaving the tough rock exposed.
Once upon a time a long, long time ago this old balsitic lava
rock was buried deep beneath an ocean !
The rock now supports different living lichens that themselves
can be many decades old.
