Fallen Tunnel Tree,Yosemite Photos,Yosemite 2004

This is all that is left of the Tunnel Tree in the Mariposa Grove in Yosemite.
The tree was cut in 1881 and lasted until the winter of 1968-1969 when a heavy snow finally
toppled it. The age of the tree before it fell was about 2100 years old. Height being
234 feet with a base of 26 feet in diameter. The tunnel was 7 feet wide and 9 feet tall.
