' Coulterville Hangman Tree! '
Justice was swift in the mid 1800's in the West!
You were either banned from an area or were hanged,
depending on the crime committed!
Miners left their equipment out knowing that laws were in
place to protect them. Doors were unlocked!
This Hangman's Tree is still thriving in Coulterville today!
It shades a small train engine called 'Whistling Billy' !
Thanks to Tom Philips for sending this photo to the
Sierra Sun Times.
