Mariposa County History!
The Old Jail in Hornitos with the church on the hill behind it.
Wonder how many bad guys went from the jail to the cemetery by the church with a short diversion to a nearby hanging tree?
Hornitos, California way back in the 1850's was visited by the bandit Joaquin Murieta who was seen gambling in the fandango halls before being chased out of Mariposa County!
A resident of the county says that there is a place by Lake Don Pedro that is supposed to have some of Joaquin's gold buried there! True story? Could be as they robbed a lot of Chinese Miners in the northern counties before heading south.
