Mariposa Cottages! <BR>Camping in cottages in Mariposa, California is how a lot of Yosemite travelers remember their summer vacations! <BR>The place is still there but it has been upgraded over the years and is now called the Mariposa Lodge that is surrounded by gorgeous flowers in downtown Mariposa. <BR>Thanks to Mariposa resident Tom Phillips for sharing this photo!

Housing Conditions In Mariposa Acute
MARIPOSA- Nov. 10 (Special)
The housing conditions in Mariposa has become very acute during the past year since the completion of the all-year highway into Yosemite. L. L. Plaskett, local merchant, has erected several cabins on his vacant lots in Mariposa.
So great has been the demand that Plaskett has been forced to construct more of these little two room building to accommodate others who have made application for homes or temporary stopping quarters at the county seat.

Very good info Carolyn!!

Carolyn has probably the best research website for Mariposa history on the web. She has worked very hard at it transcribing lots of pages by hand!

Start a coffepot, go to her site, take your time and you will be amazed at the information that is there.
