Sonora, Ca. History!
The Gunn house was the first two story house in Sonora. It was built in 1850 by Dr. Lewis C. Gunn, it was the family residence until 1861.
Also during that time it was the county recorder's office from 1850-1852.
The house was also the printing office of the "Sonora Herald" the first newspaper in the Southern Mines 1850-1852. The Gunn house became a county hospital in 1866 to 1897.
Today it is a gorgeous inn, located in downtown Sonora, within walking distance of other historic buildings.
