Sonora, Ca. History! <BR>The Gunn house was the first two story house in Sonora. It was built in 1850 by Dr. Lewis C. Gunn, it was the family residence until 1861. <BR>Also during that time it was the county recorder's office from 1850-1852. <BR>The house was also the printing office of the "Sonora Herald" the first newspaper in the Southern Mines 1850-1852. The Gunn house became a county hospital in 1866 to 1897. <BR>Today it is a gorgeous inn, located in downtown Sonora, within walking distance of other historic buildings.
