Old and New! <BR>Up close to the old and new Exchequer Dam at Lake McClure in Mariposa County. The old dam was finished in 1926 while the new dam was finished in 1967. With the low water levels both dams are now exposed. There has been talk to raise the new dam several feet allowing more water storage for the reservoir. According to Shirely Sargent the name 'Exchequer' comes from the first bank in the county and is now under the water of Lake McClure.
