Welcome to Coulterville! <BR>Coulterville has a new sign saying 'Welcome to Coulterville' <BR>that is positioned looking South on Highway 49 North. <BR>A great looking design on the sign giving it that 'Old West' feel. <BR>Coulterville was home to many of the original 49'ers who came West looking for gold. Maxwell Creek located close to this sign was a wealthy source of placer gold. Just to the North of town is the famous Penon Blanco Mine with it's outcropping of Quartz viewable from many miles away and was a landmark the miners looked for as they walked from Stockton or Sonora to Coulterville, California.
