Springtime in Mariposa County! <BR>Out on Bear Valley Road the rolling lower elevation foothills are still springtime green but a few brown painted patches can be seen here and there. In the far distance of the photo the Central Valley (Eastside of the Merced area) can be seen. <BR>Back in the gold days many a gold miner tramped over this  <BR>area as they searched the streams and arroyos for gold, but eventually this area became known for hard rock mining  <BR>and much gold was taken from the Hornitos area  <BR>of Mariposa County. <BR>To learn more about this area as it was back in the gold days: <BR>Hornitos
