Mariposa County History! <BR> <BR>On the Mariposa Agri-Nature Trail today, Leroy Radanovich and Ralph Menderhausen will begin a tour in Bear Valley and continue down to Bagby with stops on the way as they present a history lesson on Mariposa County. <BR> <BR>The photo montage and the following information were provided by Mariposa resident Skip Skyrud. <BR>The black and white photo was taken by Alma Lavenson in 1940. I took the color photo which shows the remains of the store as it existed in 2005.   <BR>In Otheoto Weston’s Mother Lode Album, published by the Stanford University Press in February 1948, on page 20 she wrote: <BR>“Another Bear Valley relic, the old PENDOLA STORE, is a picturesque adobe falling into ruin.  Nicholas Pendola, an Italian, put up the building  in 1850, and in it made and repaired boots and shoes.  General Frémont had his boots made here. Mariposa County History!
