2009 Butterfly Festival Parade
Grand Marshall Announced!
The Mariposa Butterfly Festival Committee has chosen Jim Dulcich as the Grand Marshal of the Winged Wonders Parade scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd.
Jim and his wife Maryetta will lead the Parade through downtown Mariposa. He married Mayretta in 1964 and they have raised three children here, Gordon, Barbara Ann, and Heidi. Together they have 9 grandchildren.
For over 83 years the Dulcich family has been in various businesses in Mariposa, some included a telephone exchange that evolved into a restaurant, and the Butterfly Market which opened in 1929. Twenty five years ago Jim opened Coast Hardware in downtown Mariposa where he is today.
His passion for serving Mariposa, is shown by his unfailing dedication to the Mariposa Public Utilities District Fire Department. He has been involved in the Fire Department since 1968 and has been instrumental in the purchase of three new fire engines, including the new engine provided to Mariposa last year. He has served as Fire Chief for 10 years.
Jim is always willing to give a helping hand to all the merchants and has been instrumental in establishing the Mariposa Parking District established about 30 years ago. He continues to help the merchants achieve their cooperative goals in making Mariposa a welcoming experience to both locals and visitors to our town. He also has taken on the job of providing music on the main street for the holidays. He recently helped put up the large Wagon Train banner on the the side of the Gold Coin building for the Amgem Race.
