The Yosemite Valley Railroad

With the low water levels of Lake McClure this trestle that was used by the Yosemite Valley Railroad sits high and dry out of water. This trestle was built because the canyon on the left in the photos produces plenty of run-off rain water during the winter months.
This trestle sits on the South side of the Merced River just before a bridge that was built to bring the track over to the North side of the Merced River and up to Bagby and then El Portal.

For more information on the Yosemite Valley Railroad:
A superlative book by Jack Burgess
THE YOSEMITE VALLEY RAILROAD
For restoration of the Railroad
(As of a year or so ago this group was still active)
Welcome To The Yosemite Valley Railroad Co.
