As the sunset last night, the Coast Range (shown in the background) was silhouetted by the sun.
From an elevation of 3300 feet in the Sierra Range to the Coast Range must be about 90- 110 miles or more. On a nice clear day with a good lens or binoculars, trees can be seen on the hills of the Coast Range.
