This photo was shot hand held from about six feet away from this gorgeous flower with a 100- 400mm lens set at 400mm and manual focused. But the Canon lens does have image stabilization.The longer the telephoto the more background image blur you can achieve.

that is a beautiful picture, and i appreciate knowing how you got it. i don't think my walmart disposable has that kind of a lens. i'm sending the pic to dr wieg - let him eat his heart out.
