In the above photo, the darker line above the Guadalupe Mountains shows the pollution in the Central Valley. The hotter the day the worse and higher the pollution extends up into the air unless a breeze comes up and blows it away. When Tioga Pass is open, go for a ride up there and notice the dying trees as you climb higher and higher into the Sierra Nevada Range. The pines are dying due to the pollution coming up out of the valley. It is a dramatic effect to actually see what is happening to our forests from this smog. |

boy, i really enjoy starting the day (or in this case, ending the day) with a cheerful picture and a cheerful message. as i understand it, most of the pollution is from the bay area. but i dunno. all i know for sure is that it really upsets me. and when i'm upset, it's a terrible thing to see! |

Hi there Grizzy, yes lots of that smog comes from the Bay area, but you will not hear that from Sacramento. Look at the money they just spent on cow flatulance being a major source of the pollution. Can you believe that! The reason I mentioned it is that the line of smog caught my attention when I looked at the photo. Sorry to depress you. Sometimes I get on a rant. |
