The island in the center of the photo is covered with dried
minerals from when the water level was higher.
The minerals are like the hard water deposits that
some communities have in their water supply.

Another hot day in the forecast for today, good thing it is a dry heat :-)
Turn the coolers on early to keep the house at a reasonable temperature.
Water coolers work very well up here as the air is dry, just open almost all the windows so there is good airflow. The drier the air the better they work.Also they operate much cheaper than an air conditioner, saving you money instead of giving it to P.G.&E, as if they need it.
