With the help of a member of the Goldrushcam team, a volunteer procedes to climb the face of Lembert Dome, thus giving the cameraman (Me) a moment to catch his breath. As you can see by the arrow in the second photo he is aready just a small dot as he is about a little over a third of the way up to the top. From where he is to the top it gets very steep and climbing gear is needed, but the backside has a trail to the top of this mountain that we will attempt in the fall as the weather cools down. |

As a 10 year old (now 78) I spent a year and a half at a goat ranch in USONA. It then had a population of 16. I would follow the goats during the day, covering many miles. I remember seeing abandoned gold equipment in the creeks and a hillside of quartz crystals. Probably full of houses now. I also remember a ride in the back of a pickup where the fire burned in the tree tops as we raced to safety. Must get back there to look it over. |

bruce smith, where are you now? what's keeping you from going back to look things over? my brother-in-law had a saying, "if you don't do it when you get to it, you may never get to it to do it again." and jerry, the humidity was high but the clouds made outside work possible. i worked in the garden from 6 until noon! and as for the GG, my address book is so fragmented i don't know if i can send anything out or not. but i will try friday morning before i go in for my tetanus shot. (i crashed in the steer-manure-filled garden, and got a couple of deep puncture wounds.) and one more thing, that second shot above REALLY brings home the size of the dome. great idea. |
