Last night Green Machine played at the Mariposa Arts Park. It was a very good time for all that showed up to listen to the band. The weather even seemed to cooperate as the sun slid behind the mountains the temps started to drop making fo a very enjoyable evening out in downtown Mariposa.
Get ready for another hot day today ! 85 out there and it is not quite 9:00 AM. So far this month counting the daily high and low, we are averaging over 82 degrees up here at 3300 ft.
I heard it was raining in Yosemite Valley yesterday. So if you want to escape the heat head up there and enjoy the scenery for the day, and if the Valley is too hot or crowded, drive up the 120 to Tioga Pass where is should be quite a bit cooler. |

A warning to watch where you park your car or stand.
The Oak trees have a habit of just breaking off their branches with no warning at all.
The people who know say the moisture in the soil has a lot to do with it. The branches that break are the ones that stick out laterally from the tree, not the branches that extend straight up.
Also when they break, they do not break right at the trunk, no, they break leaving the top part of the branch still attached to the tree!
Go for a drive out on the road from Catheys Valley to Hornitos and look as the Oaks real good and you will see some examples of Sudden Oak Drop.
