Restored Cabin In The Nelder Grove, Oakhurst Photos,Oakhurst 2005

This is a restored loggers cabin in the Nelder Grove of trees
about 11 miles from Oakhurst off of Highway 41
heading toward Yosemite National Park.
Yes, that is a tree stump next to the cabin,
not photo manipulation !

That is the stump of a Sequoia Tree next to the cabin. The Nelder Grove has a little over a 100 Sequoias in the area. Kind of like the South Grove in Yosemite only a whole lot less people. Yesterday the Goldrushcam Crew had the place to ourselves. You have to do a little walking to see these trees and the forest is grown up around them making for amazing views when you do see them because you cannot see the trees in advance as in the grove in Yosemite.
Stay tuned to the Goldrushcam as we prepare a special page just on the Nelder Grove !

Morning Grizzy, glad you are back from your trip safe and hopefully sound !

As far as the fire photos, I just happened to be out and about at the right time.
Always carry a camera and binoculars in the car along with all that other safety stuff as you never know what you might see !!

I took the photos of the helicopter off of the side of Triangle Road above the Butterfly Creek Winery, with a 400 mm zoom lens with image stabilization (Which I need real bad because I get all shaky when things are happening fast :-) )

No, you would not have had any rain by your house
as all the town of Mariposa received was a little wind from what I heard.

Yes, it will be nice when the weather turns and kills off all those pesky West Nile mosquitoes.
Maybe there is a business opportunity raising bats and selling them to the federal govt. or state or private individuals.
How much could you sell live bats for?
I do know that the other end results of the bat sells for good money as fertilizer.

Have a great day.

you're sure right about always carrying a camera & binoculars! it has paid off for you many times, i'm sure.

we have bats in our attic and i really enjoy watching them come out in the evening.

you know, i don't think we've ever gone to the nelder grove. we've hit the other ones, but somehow missed that one.
