What a gorgeous night in Mariposa it was. The music by the band was well appreciated,as they played well beyond nine o'clock the crowd became more festive and ready to party. Thanks again to the Mike Hammar and The Nails band for coming up to Mariposa. |

Coming home last night, rounding a bend on Triangle Rd. just south of Darrah Rd., the Goldrushcam Crew witnessed the sighting of a big old black bear crossing the road !! This is the first bear we have seen outside of Yosemite National Park. We stopped the car as it went over a barbwire fence, crashing it to the ground as if it was made of paper and then running (galloping?) through a field headed toward the Lush Meadows area. I hope the residents of Lush Meadows have enough sense not to hand feed the bears as they do to some of the deer. Probably not a good idea to leave that cooler in the back of the car overnight either! Another Hot Day is in the forecast for today, as August drags us through the heat we can only hope September will treat us more kindly. Enjoy today, have a better tomorrow, take pictures for memories. |

what a great place to sit and listen to music! the arts park looks like a comfortable place -- years and years ago, there was an open air movie theater up at mariposa park on saturday nights. it cost 50 cents. summer evenings in mariposa. there's nothing better!
