The Goldrushcam Crew Car broke down !!
No copy of Ansel Adams famous scene from last night !!
Must wait 19 years for this photo to happen again!!

A rear tire blew on the sidewall on the inner side of the tire where you cannot see the tire.
I figure one of my backroad treks in the last couple of weeks, I must have rubbed up close against a rock and made a sidewall bubble that decided to blow out yesterday.
No problem you say, just change the tire.
That is where the problem cropped up.
I took out the jack, then took out the jack raising bar. then looked and looked and looked for the tool to take off the wheel nuts.
Not in the car I concluded because the other end of that tool is sharp like a screwdriver I must have borrowed it in a crystal dig trip and forgot to put it back in the trunk safe and secure.

Finally some friends let me borrow the tool from them without securing a deposit from me !
Now I have that little spare tire on the car that says good for only 50 miles, and Costco has to order the tire since they no longer stock that tire in that size. About one week they told me cheerfully and the tire should be in.
I will go down to Pick and Pull and buy a used full size wheel and keep that in the trunk from now on.
19 years for the next photo !!!

oh, BIG bummer in spades! your tire wouldn't blow out while you were just going to the store, would it! i'm really sorry. i was looking forward to seeing the picture.

rob hates those little sissy tires. i think your idea of getting another wheel and keeping it in the trunk is a very good idea. but also keep in mind, you need a jack and tire tools. (i bet you WILL remember that.)

did you cry when you missed your picture? or say a bad word?
