This baby (five month old) Alpaca was the hit
of the 2005 Oakhurst Fall Festival among
the young and old. Lucky he had his
mom with him for protection.

The little baby in the photo above was provided by Oakawahnee Ranch Alpacas in Oakhurst,California.
Cortland and Nancy Johnson have about thirty Alpacas running aroud their ranch in the Oakhurst area.
The animals are sheered in May and then the Johnson's take the fleece and make hats and other items.
They can be contacted at:

The Oakhurst Fall Festival was a good time yesterday, even with the threat of rain and then finally a light shower came down on us as young trick or treaters ran from booth to booth for candy and treats.

Here is a photo from the festival, yes that is what the clouds looked like before the sun was hid from view.

i'm sorry i missed the festival - looks like fun. and that baby alpaca - baby animals are always cute, but he's especially cute with that little piece of string or straw or whatever it is.

i emailed one of your photographer friends, and you're right - he's really nice.

you do a good job of brightening up my mornings. thanks.
