You can see some climbers with your eyes, but you really need good binoculars or big zoom lenses preferably with IS to watch the climbers as they climb El Capitan. On Saturday they had just perfect weather to climb. Okay how long do you think it takes to climb this monolith? While there are different routes up to the top, quite a few take up to five days or so to the climb up the "the Nose"of El Cap. But check out this link for the speed record up El Capitan, Please read the solo record and then the team record and then think about that for the rest of the day ! http://www.spadout.com/articles/general/interviews/hans_florine_solo_el_capitain.htm |

Good Morning, Grizzy, Yes you are right about the photo of Sentinel Dome. There were three or four fires burning in Yosemite and then the air streaming in from the Valley was pretty ugly also. Another trip is needed up there on a nice day after a rain or wind clears the air. |
