A Mariposa Morning After An October Rain,Mariposa Photos,Mariposa 2005

A Mariposa morning after an October rain
has the low lying areas filled in with clouds.
Some wispy as they float in the air ever so
delicately others heavy with moisture and
hug the ground.

Well yesterday seemed like fall, with a steady misting rain all day up here. After it was said and done we ended up with .94 inch of rain and a high of 53.
108 (Sonora Pass) Closed above Stawberry due to snow.
120 (Tioga Pass) Closed due to snow.
41 has fog in the Oakhurst area.

Looking out long range with no more rain in the forecast, it will be interesting if they keep both passes closed for the winter.

Check back later for the weekend update on things to due,or check the homepage left of the photo.

Morning Grizzy,
I have not heard of a "Steamboat" in Yosemite,
only a Steamboat Willie from a long time ago.
Oh yes, also Steamboat Springs somewhere or other.

I enjoy your web site and cool pictures. We have a camp site near Kirby Peak at 5300 ft elev. Must be close to your place?

Hi Loren, I am glad you enjoy the web site, thanks for the positive remarks.
We can see Kirby Peak, but not right from our house, but we can see the same range of mountains.
We are at 3300 ft. elev. and you would not believe how frustrated our kids get when snow is on that peak and we do not have any.
They hope for a school snow day !
Your camp is only a few air miles from us.
You access that through Jerseydale?
You are at a very beautiful elevation with all the pines and cedars.
Have a good day today and I will try to post a photo of Kirby peak for you.

tell loren he'd better come down from that kirby peak campsite before the snow flies! or he'll be up there all winter, maybe.

beautiful picture jerry, and i've seen the same effects many times. it's the start of the winter fog down in the valley, i guess.
