Snow In The Mountains Above Mariposa,Mariposa Photos,Mariposa 2005

What a difference a year makes !
This photo is from last year on this
same date.
Signal Peak (Diablo Peak) has snow,
Kirby Peak (cloud covered on the left
in the photo) has none,
While the Lush Meadows area
is in bright sunshine !

Hi Loren, Here is Kirby Peak !
On the left in the photo covered in shade from the clouds.
This photo was taken down in Bootjack looking back up toward Yosemite,(North - East). You can see the difference in elevation between Lush Meadows(the lower hills), is about 2000 ft.
The higher snow capped peaks are about 1500 ft above Kirby Peak !
And behind that peak is Yosemite.

Here is the big thing to to today:

No longer getting a thrill from haunted houses and pumpkin patches? For a different Halloween spin, Coarsegold (Madera County), suggests learning to love the creepy-crawlies at its Tarantula Awareness Festival, Oct. 29. Besides the Tarantula Derby, there's a Hairy Leg Contest, a scream-off and tarantula poetry. Call (559) 683-3900 or visit www.coarsegoldhistoricvillage.com.

Hi Grizzy, You were right about the photo from the other day about the fog rolling in from the valley.
Do not know if I will be at the Tarantula Festival as I am runnning way behind today.

Hi Keith, thanks for the Photos.
I think those high country hikes will have to wait for the spring due to snow.
You are right on the difficulty level as these two links will show.

well, i didn't make the tarantula festival either - i guess "running behind" is a trait we share!

and having an extra hour isn't going to help. maybe if we had one every day ...
