Late post today as yesterday was a very busy day for the Goldrushcam Crew. The top picture of Yosemite National Park was taken from Signal Peak in Mariposa County which has a elevation of right at 7000 ft. It was a partly cloudy to mostly cloudy day over Yosemite. Making it hard to see into Yosemite because of the low clouds obscuring the view. In the top photo on the right hand side, the mountain peak that has the cloud shadow over it just past the tree line is Mount Starr King. It was taken with a Canon 24-70mm L lens set at 24mm. The bottom photo is a close up of Mount Starr King, having a elevation of almost 9100 ft. Behind the mountain, the Cascade Cliffs can be seen if I am right in my map reading. Maybe Keith can help me on that one. Maybe he even has a close up photo of Mountain Starr King as he has probably climbed it! This bottom photo was taken with a 100- 400mm Canon L lens with Image Stabilization, set at 400mm hand held. |

In the sheriff report today, there is a report of a fire at the Airport Inn in Mount Bullion. I have not heard but I hope the fire was not in the building itself. Rain tommorow as a winter storm makes its way into California.Snow in the high country so this will probably mark the winter closure of the mountain passes. So head up Highway 120 or 108 today as this is probably the last day you will get up there till late May or Early June 2006 !! |
