Yesterday morning with not much to do,the Goldrushcam Crew decided to go to Lee Vining over on Highway 395 to Nicely's Rest. for breakfast. The trip through Yosemite on Highway 120 was simply gorgeous, with only a few icy spots on the road to watch out for. Not very much snow, just a few patches here and there where the sun cannot reach. As the photo above shows there is also not much snow above treeline either. But the lakes are starting to get a thin layer of ice on them. After breakfast we headed over to Parnum Crater to look at all the pumice and obsidian laying on the ground from the last eruption 650 years ago. Then we decided to head over to Mono Lake where a promise was made to come back and spend a weekend taking photographs of the lake at sunrise and sunset. Mono Lake and the high desert in the surrounding area have a magical aura about them that on a quiet day can almost be felt. Heading back home as the sun was setting, we arrived at Tunnel View in Yosemite just a few minutes too late as the sunlight was already off of the top of Half Dome and El Capitan. But we had a good time talking to the tourists that were up there. All in all the Goldrushcam Crew had a very good day and arrived back home happy and tired. |
