El Capitan in Early December,Yosemite Photos,Yosemite 2005

On a late fall day, El Capitan in Yosemite National Park
stands a towering 3,000 ft over the Ponderosa
Pine trees that reach up to greet the monolith.

Just to the left of El Capitan where the vertical
dark shadow can be seen is where one of the routes
the climbers can take to get back down to the valley floor.
I have heard it is steep and dangerous.

Afternoon,Grizzy
Yes I think you are right about the hummingbirds sticking around, so I put a feeder out for them.
Maybe in the winter when it gets real cold I can let them in the house !!
I imagine they do not make much of a mess.

And I will leave the other feeder up there by the camera for now and maybe my birds are as smart as yours and will eventually find it.
Least it is out of deer range.
Maybe not for Santa's deer though !!

The Cross Rocks are not near Hornitos but you have the elevation close.
Hornitos has GOLD and crystals. Black crystals I am told but have not been to the site yet.
No, the cross rocks are located near and old road if you get my drift. But not a toll road either.

great picture of el cap! wouldn't you hate to be dangling on the face of it right now, looking for your next handhold? brrrrr!

well, maybe old highway for the cross rocks??

about hummingbirds in the house -- once a long time ago, i found a mummified hummingbird stuck into a lampshade. i guess the poor little guy either got into the house, or was brought in by a cat and then got away from the cat, and then impaled himself in a bamboo lampshade. i guess i didn't dust that week. keep me informed about your birds. i have lots of birds at my feeder, and once in a while we're overrun with some really pesty ones. then they move on, and leave the others. and sometimes i happen to buy some food that NO ONE likes. it falls onto the ground and the chickens get it, so that's okay.
