There is snow in the mountains but we also have a lot of haze in the air that will take a good wind or rain to get rid of. This photo is from on Highway 41 above Oakhurst yesterday. I made it a little lighter so you can see the houses on the ridge. But the haze was strong you could hardly see them. On a clear day the mountains seem almost if you could touch them. On the homepage today I have links to two stories from the Modesto Bee on the valley pollution. Read these because as the valley goes so do the foothill communities go! We have had just a mild fall so far with a lot of sunshine but we sure do need the rain and snow and everything else that goes along with that type of weather. |

A word of caution if you head into Yosemite via Highway 41, just past Fish Camp there is a little downhill section of road that does not recieve much or any daylght on the surface of the road. There is a sign up that says ICY, heed it ! Take this section of the road real slow as most of the sand gets pushed out of the tire tracks of the other vehicles, so it is really icy as the Goldrushcam Car started to slide on this ice yesterday until the tires caught dry road again. If we had been going very fast, today the right hand side of the car would look kinda of sad. |

that's a good travel advisory! we have a stretch of road on sherlock, between whitlock and telegraph, that NEVER gets the sun in the winter. it's a real skid trap! and those are good links to valley pollution. (if you can use the words "good" and "pollution" in the same sentence.) check your email and let me know about friday, please. |
