A new moon rises over the south side of Yosemite Valley
during the early afternoon a few days ago, making for a
photo looking later in the day than it really was.

Author Message Jerry,Goldrushcam Photographer Posted on Saturday, January 07, 2006 - 9:19 am:    Wow, it was almost 70 degrees up here yesterday. Down in Mariposa it felt even hotter ! It was shirt sleeve weather and was the talk of the town. A little rain creeped in early this morning giving us .09 inches of rain and reducing our temps.But we also had a gorgeous cloud filled sunrise ! The Mariposa Gem and Mineral Club bought a display cabinet from the store known as the Vault in Mariposa. Now I know why they call it the vault. When you enter the store look to your right and sure enough is this big bank vault door looking at you ! I understand that it used to be a Bank of America back when Bank of America had more of a presence in small towns in California. By the way, the Vault has to have some of the most beautiful clothes for sale in Mariposa. A highly recommended store to seek out in Mariposa. It is located across from the Pizza Factory on the south end of Mariposa. In fact that is where the Friday Night Music was held until the park was built.
