The Wawona Hotel In Yosemite On A Mid January Evening,Yosemite Photos,Yosemite 2006

The Wawona Hotel on a January evening just as the sun
was setting takes on a warm glow.
Closed for the winter, the hotel sits silently as
it endures another winter in the mountains
as storms blow through the Sierra Nevada range.

With an afternoon trip into Yosemite yesterday, 41 into Wawona in some sections slow driving was required as snow from the trees and ice was on the road.
Being a holiday the park had quite a few visitors as people wanted to get out and play in the snow or just drive around looking at the scenery.
I like the Wawona area better in the wintertime as the golf course turns into a snow covered meadow.
I still do not understand why we need a golf course in a national park. Yosemite is the only national park with a golf course from what I hear.
