Coming down from the Upper Yosemite Fall Trail, I reached the bottom at about 5:12 PM, then walked over to where the car was at the Yosemite Lodge and rested for a minute or two. Getting in the car I headed East over to the Yosemite Valley Store to get something to drink as my water bottle was empty. The above scene was what I saw as the car came around a bend in the road. Parking the car as fast as I could and grabbing the camera bag I hobbled (legs were getting mighty sore from that climb up the falls !) over into the meadow and tried to stay out of the way of other photographers as they set up their cameras. This sunset did not last long as one camera guy found out as he tried to go back to his car for something or other and missed the whole show.As soon as the sun went down and Half Dome returned to a color like the rest of the surrounding cliffs were in the photo above, it seemed liked the temperature dropped ten degrees or more in the matter of a few moments. It was a fabulous way to end a very entertaining day in Yosemite. |
