Just as in the summer an upslope wind can form from the hotter valley temps versus the mountain temps creating its own wind ! And a downslope wind can happen after dark as the mountains run cooler than the valley thus creating a wind. With clouds in the early morning sky,I hurried down to the lake not really knowing what I would see. As the sun inched its way up higher into the sky, the clouds lit up with golden colors that reflected onto the dark lake. Just as in the photos of sunset at Half Dome this does not last long as once the sun peaks over the range the soft colors disappear for another day and another time. |
