Manzanita Flowers, Mariposa Photos,Mariposa 2006

Possibly broken from 40 + mph winds,
pelted with rain and finally enduring hail
flung down upon it, this Manzanita bloom
struggles to survive on this the last day
of February.

Wow !! What a way for February to bow out !
Just after midnight last night along with all the other high wind gusts, the Goldrushcam Weather Station observed a 43 MPH blast of wind !
Then around 4:30 AM the light show began along with some terrific thunder that rumbled the foundation of the house !
Then the temperature started to dramatically drop into the lows 30's and the hail / snow started to fall from the sky. Giving us about a 1/4 inch on the ground, some places more some places less.
As the photo shows above, it was very rough on some vulnerable growth !!
