It is a dark and snowy day up here as this old oak bears the weight of another March snow. It has been snowing up here since about 6:00 AM. Before that it was rainy and windy, with a 33mph gust at 2:38 in the morning. If any one knows of anything faster on the snow than an old fashioned inner tube from a car, please let me know !! My neck is a trifle sore, but I guess that is the breaks (pun intended!) of the game. But now I do wear a motorcycle helmet because, well just because !! It is past 1:00 PM now with over six inches on the ground of great white glorious snow. and snowing hard again !! Check out the live camera for a view. A later post will talk about what to do this weekend, for right now I feel another run down the slopes is in order

Power is out, running on battery power again. PG&E must be really busy today, and it keeps on snowing, Get the wood in, get the candles ready, it might be a long dark night ! Will post the updated list on weekend things to do when the power comes back on. Do not forget the this: ANNUAL ENCHILADA DINNER: Hornitos' 57th annual Enchilada Dinner is set Saturday from 4 to 8:30 p.m. at Stag Hall. Hornitos Patrons Club members will prepare enchiladas, chicken pie, beans, salsa, coleslaw and garlic bread, along with a beverage and dessert. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. Take-out orders will be available. The enchilada dinner is the major fund-raising event of the year for the club and benefits many projects and activities in the Hornitos and Mariposa County area. For more information, call 376-2341 or 376-2320. Now get out there and make some snow angels !! |

Power back on at about 7:10 PM. Thank you PG&E workers !! Close to 10 inches of snow today. It was a lot heavier snow today than two weeks ago. The snow just weighed down the branches of the trees and shrubs. In fact the Goldrushcam Crew were out cutting down big branches that fell on the power line from the street to the house, that was putting great stress on the lines. They must be secured to the power pole real good. All in all a very good day up here in the Lushmeadows area of Mariposa County. |
