Saint Catherine's Church in Hornitos on a
sunny April afternoon, sits high above the town
overlooking the spring green surrounding hillsides.

Author Message Jerry,Goldrushcam Photographer Posted on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 - 6:58 am:    Something about this church in Hornitos keeps drawing me back to it, almost as if it calls me whenever I am driving through the small town. I like to spend quiet time up there as it is always so peaceful up on the hill. The wind is about all one can hear while gazing at the surrounding area. The simple iron cross reaches into the blue sky atop the church as a sign peace is here. Walking through the cemetery and looking at the dates on the headstones you realize how hard life was here in the early days as a lot of people died young as they were too sick to wait for the doctor to arrive from Stockton.
