MCHS Drama Club Presents: 12 Angry Jurors

A 19-year-old man has just stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father. "He doesn't stand a chance," mutters the guard as the 12 jurors are taken into the bleak jury room. It looks like an open-and-shut case—until one of the jurors begins opening the others' eyes to the facts. "This is a remarkable thing about democracy," says the foreign-born juror, "that we are notified by mail to come down to this place—and decide on the guilt or innocence of a man; of a man we have not known before. We have nothing to gain or lose by our verdict. We should not make it a personal thing." But personal it does become, with each juror revealing his or her own character as the various testimonies are re-examined, the murder is re-enacted and a new murder threat is born before their eyes! Tempers get short, arguments grow heated, and these citizens become 12 Angry Jurors.

Based on the Emmy-award winning teleplay by Reginald Rose, adapted for the stage by Sherman Sergel, and directed by Bryan Starchman, the show will play in the Richard D. Fiester Auditorium on the MCHS campus.  Two show only: Friday May 16th and Saturday May 17th at 7p.m.  Tickets are $7 for general admission and $6 for students with ASB or senior citizens.  Tickets are available at the door or can be reserved by calling 209-742-0260 ext. 201.  This show is rated PG and is presented by special arrangement with the Dramatic Publishing Company.

The Howl is on its way!
This year’s event will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008

Be sure to set aside time for the 23rd Annual Coulterville Coyote Howl and Car Show. Over the past 23 years coyote howlers have gathered to see who will be the next to win the cash prize and have their name added to the "Howl of Fame."

The Coulterville Coyote Howl is a family friendly and entertaining outdoor event with fun for everyone. The day begins with a parade down Main Street. How about instead of watching the parade, you or your group be in the parade? Just fill out a entry form, cost is $10.00. Browse through the great selection of craft vendors, have lunch at one of the food booths, or have your own booth in the park, cost is $25.00- deadline for booth space is May 7. Enter to win one of our fabulous prizes in our raffle drawing, tickets are $1.00 each or just sit and enjoy the music of the "Barn Dogs" and entertainment. In the evening, join us for the Coyote Howl Dinner Dance. Tickets for the dinner dance are $15.00 each and may be purchased at the History Center in Coulterville, the Visitor Center in Coulterville, the Coulter Café or in the park the day of the event. This year’s menu is Bar B.Q. Chicken & Baby Back Ribs, beans, corn on the cob, salad, bread and non alcoholic beverage. Music will be provided by the "Blues Box Bayou Band".

Coulterville Coyote Howl’s event is a fund-raising event to benefit the Northern Mariposa County History Center. The History Center is a nonprofit organization and is solely supported by membership and donations. This event will raise funds needed to protect and preserve our history. Would you like to sponsor our fund raising event? Sponsorship is a great way to support a non profit organization but also a perfect way to advertise your business or organization. Our T-shirts are worn by hundreds of people so your business will be advertised a possible 365 days a year. Contact Gail at 878-3015 for more information on sponsorships.

This year’s event will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008. The parade will be down Main Street at 10:00 a.m., and the vendors will be in the Coulterville County Park located just north of the intersection of Hwy. 49 & Hwy. 132. The Dinner Dance starts at 5:30 p.m. with music starting at 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.

The event is being presented by a dedicated group of volunteers who have formed the Coyote Howl Planning Committee. Our hope is to educate the public about the history of Northern Mariposa County and Southern Tuolumne County. In partnership with the community, our goal is to raise funds to continue to keep the Northern Mariposa County History Center open to the public and to keep our history alive.

For vendor/booth or parade entry information, to volunteer, to become a sponsor, or to purchase dinner tickets, contact Gail Tyler at (209) 878-3015 or email her at nmchc@inreach.com.
