Mariposa County Board Of Supervisors Meeting
Selected Highlights For December 19, 2006

Outgoing Board of Supervisors Chairman, Lee Stetson receives a Tile Plaque,
a Letter of Resolution, that listed all his accomplishments while he served as Chairman,
(And Mr. Stetson had many, many of these as he served on more boards then there was time in the day !)
and a symbolic Gavel Plaque from Supervisor Janet Bibby.
| At the beginning of the last Board of Supervisors Meeting of 2006, A Letter of Appreciation was given to community members and organizations for all the work they did for the Senior Wood Delivery Program. Chairman Lee Stetson talking about the permanent replacement solution for the Ferguson Rockslide said that the report that was supposed to be due in early January has now been pushed back to sometime in February. The report is supposed to list what Caltrans has come up with as far as a permanent fix on the 140 in the Merced River Canyon. Mr. Stetson also said that the plan was still on track according to Caltrans to be finished in the 24 - 36 month timeline originally provided by Caltrans. Representatives for Yosemite National Park were on hand to talk about the deterioration of the El Portal Road in the park. They talked about how the temporary fixes are not holding together and that the road is cracking and being undermined. They would like to start permanently fixing the road if all goes as planned next August or September. They are hoping to have a plan of action out to the public by March on what will take place at that very important intersection of the road where Highway 140 and Highway 120 come together. The reps also mentioned that if the project gets delayed it might not get fixed until as late as fall of 2010. |
A discussion about having Sierra Designs Inc. to provide landscaping services for the Don Pedro Water
Treatment Plant, brought up questions on who was supposed to pay for these services and then maintenance costs associated
with this landscaping. Public Works Director, Dana Hertfelder said that these costs would be paid for by the ratepayers that are served by the Lake Don Pedro Treatment Plant. The county is discussing entering into an agreement with the Golden Agers on taking over the maintenance costs on the Senior Service Center as the rent at over $24,000 a year is getting very expensive. If the negotiations work out to everyone's satisfaction the rent would drop drastically as the county would then pick up the maintenance costs. The Board of Supervisors with Public Works Director, Dana Hertfelder's recommendation passed a resolution denying Total Waste Systems Special Rate Review Request on uncontrollable circumstances due to increased fuel cost. Dana said that this was not an emergency as spelled out in the contract. Total Waste Systems in the early part of the year had wanted a 48% increase and then after a revision they came back with a 28% increase. Finally the Board also passed a Resolution Authorizing the Matuca Chapter of E Clampus Vitus to Erect and Dedicate a Monument in honor of the Mariposa Museum and History Center's 50th Anniversary in April of 2007. |
