On Friday, August 18, 2006 the unthinkable happened in Mariposa County.
People were happy and sad, "thought it would never happen" some said.
The first traffic light ever installed in Mariposa County is on Highway 140 !

Dignitaries and local residents along with a few tourists got to know each other before the ceremony began.

A Mariposa County School Bus and a Yarts Transportation Bus were lined up and ready to use the new bridge.
The School bus was all shined up and even had shiny tires !

Kome Ajise, District 10 Director for Caltrans was the Master of Ceremonies.
Mr. Ajise thanked Mike Coffield (who was the interim Mariposa County CAO at the time)
 for being a tireless leader.

George Radanovich, U.S. Congressman for the 19th Congressional District gave a speech
thanking Caltrans and Teichert workers for getting the job done.

Lee Stetson, Mariposa County Supervisor for District 1, reminded everyone that the slide is still
a significant disaster for the county even though the bridges are in.

Janet Bibby, Mariposa County Supervisor for District 3, proclaimed hats off to all for a team effort !
