Mariposa County Arts Council 25th Anniversary Festival
at the Arts Park in Mariposa, California.

On Sunday, August  20, 2006 the Mariposa County Arts Council celebrated their 25th anniversary at the Arts Park in Mariposa.



Posters were on display, giving a visual history of the Arts Council.



The band played sing - a - long songs with the audience in good natured fun !



Susan Crain was sculpting a container depicting a woman holding a basket, and also taught a quick lesson on soap stone carving.

Yes,  there was cake ! In fact...




There were two cakes ! !  These cakes we were told were made by the Dietician at the hospital in Mariposa.
If this is healthy food then we are all for it !  Please send the recipe to the Sierra Sun Times and we will
share it with our readers !




The public was invited to pick a brush and try their hand at painting one of the murals that will eventually be
coated for the weather and then assembled as the back drop for the stage at the Arts Park in Mariposa.

It was a fun day at the Arts Park as the residents of Mariposa along with the tourists strolled through
the park looking at demos of sculpting, painting, youth projects, story telling and musicians.
Free hot dogs and bottled water were available. Then at about 4:30 the cakes were cut for all to enjoy.
Kudos to the people at the Arts Council who put their time and effort into such a successful day.
We look forward to the 50th anniversary in a few years !
