Penny Otwell
For A List Of The Featured Artists 2007 |
An Art Trails participant for the past four years, Penny Otwell’s work was showcased on the cover of the Art Trail’s catalog three years ago. Penny, a well know artist of many years, says, ”I am inspired to paint mountains, animals, and anything that intrigues me by choosing harmonious color combinations that I mix on my palette. Color represents a wild and free spirit that I honor through this process. I work “en plein air,” which is very spontaneous but also in my studio in quiet contemplation.”
Penny will be showing new original oil paintings varying is size from 12” X 12” to 40” X 30” in the 2007 Art Trail’s show. Her Ribbon Fall, Series will be on view. Otwell says, “Living among trees, mountains and rivers I find a wealth of images that just call to me to be painted. I love being outdoors so much. My parents used to have to drag me into the house each evening when I was a young child, and today I still hesitate going indoors. The beauty of landscape forms that are affected by light inspire my paintings.”
