Carol Shockley, an outstanding artist of watercolors and acrylics, picked up her first paintbrush and started her art career eleven years ago.   Previously she worked as a hair designer for thirty years, which she credits for helping her with her sense of design and color.  She says, “I love to paint shapes, negative spaces, values and some realism.”  She loves watercolor because it gives her the freedom to explore and create many exciting painting effects.

She feels fortunate to have studied with many people who work with design and principles of design.  After much study she entered into art shows and competitions starting with the Mariposa Fair and Mariposa Arts Council.  She has also had experience doing Art and Wine Shows throughout California.  Recently she and her husband purchased a downtown two story building in Mariposa and started their current business, which is an art gallery, home décor and gift studio.

 Carol is a second year artist in Art Trails this year.
