For a List Of The Featured Artists 2006

One of the outstanding artists from Mariposa is Catherine Crandall.   She moved to Mariposa with her husband 7 years ago.  Her art is mixed media, as she creates art pieces as sculptures, oils, watercolors, and monotype prints.  Her current creative emphasis is on oils and sculptures.  Cathy also works as a Graphic Artist with the State of California.  Her specialty is mural designs, which you can see along Highway 99 and archeological pen and ink illustrations of artifacts found in California archeological digs.

About Cathy’s art pieces, she says, “I am deeply moved by the manifestation of beauty and sacred mystery that weaves its way through our lives, like a transparent, shimmering thread of many colors.  It is fragile in its beauty and very fleeting, so when we catch sight of these sacred moments, time stands still and we are transported to a realm of beauty and magic.”

Crandall feels that as an artist she wants to express a sensibility and a passion that is uncompromised and pure in its essence.  She says, “The mood of a painting/sculpture finds expression in the use of the elements of color, light, texture, design and the story of the subject.”  Her work is “a must see” on the tour on October 13th and 14th.
