Linda Gast
|
Linda Gast one of Art Trail’s brilliant photographers has lived in Midpines for 15 years. She had a business called the “Quilt Block” for ten years where she designed patterns and made shirts with quilt blocks sewn on them. She got interested in photography while doing a catalogue for the business. From her first Sony digital camera she has shifted out her camera, as technology progressed, until now she shoots with her Canon D20.
As the official volunteer photographer for our county SPCA, she also maintains their web page. She has created web pages of other local businesses as well. Photographing a Saw-Whet owl that decided to pose for her in her backyard, Linda got such outstanding pictures that she, along with her friend Rochelle Frank, has published a children’s book “So What, Saw-Whet.” It has become an extremely popular book with Nature Centers throughout the United States. Her photos of people, landscapes, animals and birds have won prizes and have been seen in publications on several web sites. She says, “I am never happier than when I am in my kayak, stalking waterfowl and other birds with my camera.”
